Internet Marketing: What's Holding You Back From Success?

By Meyer Lukas

We challenge you to try to find a better set of tips about internet marketing elsewhere, because it is highly unlikely. Be sure to read this article first, because the advice written here comes from experts in the field, and is written in a way that you can directly apply to your own situation.

When marketing a product on your website, reduce distractions and increase focus. You want your customers to look at your page and instantly know what they are looking at and why they'd be interested. If your page is cluttered, or worse, uninteresting, you will lose them in the first couple of seconds, with no chance to make a sales pitch.

If a lot of your subscribers did not open your emails, you can easily send your email again. Change the title slightly to indicate that you offer a very interesting deal, that will end soon or something to that effect. People will most likely, end up opening one of your emails out of curiosity, after a few attempts.

Keep the use of Flash and AJAX to a minimum. In spite of the fact it can look nice and give your site interactivity, it is useless in helping search engines actually find your website. If you want to employ Flash, use it sparingly and make sure you have plenty of other keywords and navigational tools available.

Video marketing is a good way to get your business Internet exposure. Videos are great at retaining the attention of potential customers. Combined with a great screen capture and a captivating title, the video will grab your customers and help guide them to buy.

Try to avoid following someone else's path verbatim if at all possible, especially if you're in the same type of market. Internet marketing follows the same basic formulas for success, but you cannot become so alike that customers cannot tell you or your competition apart. You need to separate yourself from the pack.

Most of the major search engines now feature local listings. For any business website with even a little presence in the bricks-and-mortar world, registering with those local listings makes sense from an internet marketing standpoint. Local listings offer a smaller pond of competitors, so it is easier for a business to make a big fish out of its website.

You should include as many links to other websites on your own pages. If these links attract a lot of visitors, chances are this will encourage people to link back to your website. Make sure you do not link the website of a competitor though. If a website never links back to you, stop creating link for it.

If you are trying to sell something online it is important to be detailed. Your customers are at a disadvantage because they cannot see, feel, touch, and/or try your product, they are relying upon good details in order to make an educated decision as to whether they wish to purchase it or not.

Proper time management means Internet marketing will not eat up all your time. Strategically planning and managing your time will help lead you to success!
