How To Learn Morse Code Effectively

By Kari Ratliff

Many people would wonder why someone should bother to learn Morse code. Most people are more familiar with some form of programming code these days. However, Morse code is something that is still used, even though there are cell phones and radios that are able to communicate.

It's important to have to have a very strong signal if you want to perform a search and rescue mission. This could take place high up in the mountains and this is where Morse code is very helpful. Some people may think that it is outdated, but there are always times where it can come to good use.

It is not as difficult as most languages to learn. You won't have to know a lot about the punctuation. A lot of this comes down to memory and the way you memorize this depends on your learning techniques. Some people are visual learners and others need to write down everything. You can also get auditory equipment which can help.

It may be best to start by writing down the letters of the alphabet and then you will list the translation of the dots and dashes next to the letters. Morse code is composed of dots and dashes and these may seem complicated at first, but with a little practice you will find it easy enough to get the hang of. It is a good idea practicing with a friend and it can be fun to get to know the language this way as well.

There are different ways of learning. Some people are able to learn just by looking at their work and others need to write down the content in order to take in the information. In a case like this, it may be better to write the letter, accompanied with the dashes and dots. Slowly, you can begin making up words, and then sentences as you begin to practice.

Most people go slowly with this language in the beginning. It is just like learning any other language, except it is not as difficult because you don't have to worry as much with the pronunciation or whether something is masculine or feminine. If you rush the learning progress and leave out certain steps that you think you may not need, you will probably find that you don't know everything and you will have to go over certain sections again.

It may not be essential to use a mobile phone. After all, nobody even knew what mobile phones were 160 years ago when the language was invented. There are many ways to communicate in this way. You can even learn to blink in the code, which can be fun to do.

To be able to learn Morse code in the most effective way, you should have a definite plan. There are programs that have been devised for people who want to progress with this. There are also auditory programs which are helpful because they will show you how it is supposed to sound and some people prefer to learn in this fashion. You have to decide which is the best way for you to learn, because everyone is different. There are lots of learning techniques out there, but not everyone will benefit from the same method.
