You Will Look More Stylish With These Tips

By Carl Gale

Many people are interested in looking their best but do not currently consider themselves to be very "fashionable" people. As a result, it can be hard for them to know where to begin when they are trying to enhance their appearance. If this sounds like you, read on for fashion tips and advice that you can apply to your life.

Choose items to add to your wardrobe that make sense for your lifestyle. If you spend most of your time in jeans, then buy the best looking and best-fitting jeans that you can afford. The money you spend on an item for your wardrobe that you wear regularly is always a good investment.

Always remember to bring the shoes you plan on wearing to a special event along when you shop for the perfect dress. This allows you to see how the shoes look with the dresses you are considering. It will also give you an idea of any alterations that may need to be made.

If you have to wear stockings, make sure that you wear some that fit you very well and are not too large or too small. Wearing the wrong size can make you very uncomfortable and it does not look good for you if you have to adjust them in public areas.

Do not use sponges to apply your liquid and cream based foundations and blushes. You will lose product in the sponge every time you do. Additionally, the sponge becomes a breeding ground for germs. Instead, use clean fingertips for application, switching fingers or cleaning them between different products or colors.

Do not automatically trust a size label. Don't purchase something that you haven't tried on. Sizing is not based on any standard methodology. Different brands have different measurements and sizes. If you are brave enough to buy clothes off an online site, carefully examine their sizing chart first. Also look for if you can return clothes if they don't fit.

Remember that belts should serve as accent pieces, rather than necessary tools for holding your pants up, and have fun with them. Skinny belts are perfect with dark denim and dress pants, especially in animal prints or shimmery metallic. Wide belts look great over dresses, cardigans and other pieces that you'd like to look more fitted.

If you have problems with frizz, avoid rubbing hair with towels after washing it. This will only make your hair much worse and lead to a "frizzier" appearance. Wrap your hair in the towel instead so soak up the moisture. Afterwards, brush the hair gently.

When shopping for vintage clothing, don't make assumptions based on the size on the tag. A size 8 in the 1950s fits differently than a modern size 8, so save yourself some disappointments by always trying items on before buying them. Once you get a feel for how sizes have changed through the decades, you will have a better idea of what to look for.

If your budget for fashion is on the low end, you shouldn't be ashamed of letting people around you know this. If your BFF has a piece that you love, ask her to let you know before she gets rid of it. This lets you look great for less.

Some people believe fashion only involves clothes. They are not aware that bad hair can negatively affect your whole look. You need to make sure that you use high quality hair products in order to keep your hair looking fabulous at all times, so that it compliments your choice of clothing.

Wine colors, such as deep purples and dark reds, have been in fashion all year and are expected to be in fashion for the fall and winter as well. Burgundy coats, mahogany dresses and plum skirts are all some great choices. Just make sure to get wine-colored accessories as well.

You may have thought before that fashion was something you weren't able to keep up with. However, hopefully you've learned that it's more about personal taste and what you can learn and gain from others as you express yourself. Remember the tips and advice you've read here as you continue to learn more information about fashion.
