Home Grown Natural Oral Care Tips

By Michael Lewis

Beautiful white teeth and an odorless mouth are the desire of everyone. They give you confidence and comfort as well as save you from painful toothaches. While there are excellent tooth care products advertised, natural oral care is considered the best remedy. In fact, these remedies were in use for centuries and are preferred because they do not have side effects. Here are some of the measures you can take to improve your oral hygiene without including a lot of chemicals or manufactured products.

Clean your teeth regularly. According to dental specialists, you should brush your teeth twice each day. Where possible, brushing should take place after every meal. Where toothbrush and paste are not available, flossing is recommended. It helps to eliminate residue that escalates decay once left too long in the mouth.

Increase the intake of alkaline foods in your diet. Tooth decay is mainly caused by food remnants that turn acidic after a while in your mouth. The speed of decay is escalated by their acidic nature. Alkaline foods help to regulate the pH in your mouth by neutralizing it. Some of the best foods in this regard include beans, greens and a wide range of fruits. This does not mean that you stop cleaning the mouth after meals.

Warm sea salt water is still a classic option. It has been in use for centuries and is proven to deliver excellent results. Floss using the water one time a day or after every meal, where you cannot brush. It eliminates the unwelcome bacteria and other infectious organisms. You may add a drop of olive oil or cloves that are used as fresheners. The natural ingredients have been used for centuries before the commercial mouth wash was invented.

The body needs enough rest through recommended hours of sleep every day. This will also be helpful for your general health. This is augmented with daily exercises. The idea is to keep the body strong enough to cope with infections and fight inflammations. Fatigue weakens the body, leaving it vulnerable to attacks.

Clean your tongue regularly. The tongue is capable of hosting a myriad of bacteria and other organisms that cause decay and bad breath. Even after cleaning your teeth, residue from the tongue will attack the teeth. It also causes bad breath. There are professional brushes for cleaning the tongue. Foods like sugarcane and those that you have to bite hard into or are fibrous will effectively clean the tongue.

Work with a holistic dentist near you. It is recommended that you have dental checkup at least once or twice a year. This helps the dental professional to identify and rectify any issue at the earliest stage. If you have fillings, implants or other hardware, the dentist ensures that they are rectifying the problem or serving the purpose they were designed to do.

To keep your mouth fresh and healthy, any danger that may harm your tongue, teeth or gums should be avoided. To avoid disastrous side effects relating to chemicals and manufactured products, baking soda, salt and herbal toothpastes should be used. The best toothpastes are those that are free of fluoride. Be conscious of your oral health from childhood to guarantee a healthy adulthood.
