Guideline To Make Slow Burning Candles

By George Taylor

People use candles in different and special occasions. They use them to decorate the event and bring forth an attractive impression depending on the theme of that particular occasion. When the event is intended to last for long, it is necessary to get Slow Burning Candles. Using candles which will burn out fast may be more expensive and uneconomical to some extent. However, there is a variety of guidelines you should follow to ensure your candle burns for long.

You can trim the wick regularly. Wick trimming can be an effective method and is known to help in lengthening the candle life. However, the wick is required to be at least more than a quarter to three-quarter of an inch long. One needs to trim it every time before lighting the candle. Therefore, it will burn for long as compared to the one with a long wick.

You ought not to put your candle close to a moving fan or open windows. It might be blown off or the fast-moving air will facilitate it to burn fast. You will realize that the flame will flicker and might result in uneven heating. For a candle to last long, it should burn steadily, and have an even heating. As a result, the candle will burn for a little bit longer.

Different candles in the market will have different characteristics. Some are made having a single wick while others will have multiple wicks which are evenly spaced. These two types of wicks will have different heating rates which determine the period they can last. A candle with multi-wick is better since it does not burn faster as compared to one with a single wick.

The shape of a candle also brings a certain rate of burning differences. Some are made possessing circular, square and other shapes. The shapes sometimes determine the period a candle might last. For example, a circular one has an even distance from the wick. This means that it will burn evenly as compared to the one with other shapes either irregular or square shaped ones.

When you intend to get the candles from the shops or making your own, it is necessary to undertake some research to understand the best candle wax to use. Use different types of wax as well as different additives. Some of the wax to go for include soy, gel, paraffin wax among others which have different burning rates.

Before you burn a candle, it is necessary to place it in a refrigerator for a while preferably one or two hours. This will help to cool the wax. Once you chill the wax, it will be difficult for it to burn fast. However, you need not to freeze it as it will result in cracking thus leading to uneven burning.

Moreover, there is a need for an individual to have enough knowledge of the most appropriate candles to go for at any instance. Look for recommendations for the best one to get in the market, and how to make them burn longer. You can as well follow the guidelines provided by the manufacturers on how to ensure they are safe and efficient.
