More and more people are jumping into internet marketing. Many people over complicate the concept of making money from home because they don't know the basics of building a solid online business. Being successful on the internet is not rocket science, it takes hard work, dedication and constant action but if you gain the right skills and knowledge your business can be a success.

Having your own niche website or blog is the very first thing you should do. With internet marketing you don't need a lot of money, but having your own site is crucial if you want to promote or advertise an affiliate offer. Of course that you need to make sure whatever you decide to sell or promote will pay you at least 50% commissions.

One of the main reasons why so many people fail to make money on the internet is because they lack the skills and knowledge to generate targeted traffic. Without traffic you don't have a business, no traffic means you'll most likely not get any sales. This is the number one reason most people quit affiliate/internet marketing after a few months. There are many ways to generate targeted traffic for your site, email marketing and online forums are two simple ways to not only generate sales but also build relationships.

Of course if you want to make the big money on the internet then you need to develop the ability to recognize a problem and offer a solution. If you become a good problem solver then you'll be able to generate an income by helping other people.
