Effective Social Media Marketing can Translate to Revenue

By Celina Taylor

In our last issue of Facebook for Business, we talked about making use of ads on Facebook to maximize your sales. In this issue we are going to talk about social media management for much better search engine rankings and traffic.

There are a number of online marketers that state that Facebook has become more powerful than Google in terms of pulling in traffic. Whether this is true or not, it's not shocking to know that many other marketers are jumping in the bandwagon to try out Facebook marketing for themselves also because this way is a lot inexpensive and less difficult to set up.

Give consideration to these tips on how to get appropriate traffic from Google directly to your Facebook business page.

Build A lot Of High quality One way links

There are several ways you can lead the consumer back to your Facebook page. This is one of the strengths of a social networking site. The more Likes that you have which leads to acquiring more Fans, the more links lead back to your Page. This is also known as on-site optimization.

The offsite way is to build links using other websites such as your official website, article publication sites, other social networking sites, email signatures and the like. Article submission is one of the least expensive, yet most powerful ways to build backlinks. Not only that, they also allow you to presell to your prospects before getting to your main page.

- Use A Professional Business Name

While it's good to be thoughtful with your profile and updates, the same does not follow for your Facebook name. The main goal is to supply a name that's searchable for others. This helps keyword and key phrase optimization. Be sure that your business name doesn't come with too much hoopla. In some cases, you might also need to separate yourself from another identical business name. If the business name is Jeremiah's Fruit Shakes, for example, and there's something that sounds quite similar to this, then make it Jeremiah's Organic Alabama Fruit Shakes.

You should also do the same for URL's. This new feature gives you the option to change your URL so it's more searchable to other Facebook users. Again, you don't want your URL to sound flamboyant. Go for something direct just like facebook.com/jeremiahsfruitshakes.

- Complete your Profile

What can be a more significant aspect than your landing page on Facebook? From here, customers will come to a decision whether they want to read on and explore the other parts of your profile or not. So answer completely as much as possible. Here, you can be creative with the descriptive text that you place in the About Page and related outside links.

Don't forget to place keyword rich content in your squeeze page. Try to place in words that are most searchable in your industry, so Google and other search engines can easily pick them up. Try also to get positive customer feedbacks or testimonials. This will add trustworthiness to your page and to your brand in general.

It is not advisable though, with all the advantages that Facebook has in case you were thinking of such action, to use the Fan or Business Page in lieu of an official website. At most, a Facebook page is just a great addition to any business website because it acts as a community among prospective customers and clients alike.
