Helpful Advice For Successful Internet Marketing

By Patrick Taylor Smith

Everyone who owns a website needs to know about Internet marketing. There is no point in having a site at all if no one shows up to it! Marketing can be free or paid, internal or external, and we've got all the bases covered in the helpful tips we've included below.

One way to make your online presence more viral is to give something away for free. Be it samples, a contest for products or services or some other freebie, publicizing something for free will greatly increase the chances that your links will get passed on to others. This will end up raising your online visibility, exponentially.

Generate as many leads as possible from website traffic. Getting traffic to your site is a tremendous achievement, but it is important to encourage that traffic to actually engage with the site. As soon as they enter the website, they should be able to easily sign up for further information.

If you'd like to market your online blog, make friends with the authors of the websites you admire most. No joke! Contact a blog that you love (and that hosts similar content to your own). Make a case for the quality of your blog, and offer a link-exchange. In a link-exchange, each site posts an outgoing link to a relevant entry on the other site. With this strategy, you each instantly get new, diverse visitors. A win-win!

Check out the title of your website in your browser window. Keywords are very important ways to attract potential customers, but if your site isn't one the will find by searching, they won't be buying from you. Make sure you look at your site as a visitor would, and see if it matches your expectations.

Keep people focused on the marketing you want them to see by reducing unnecessary distractions. Many visitors will enter a website, click around on a few pages, and then leave aimlessly. Stop them from wandering by providing obvious paths you want them to follow. Connect every link to another page of content so that they are never distracted.

When you send an order confirmation email, include a coupon code for a nice discount if the customer makes another purchase within the next 30 days. This encourages repeat business and gets them in the habit of returning to your website more often. A future discount cost you nothing unless you make another sale and it builds good will in the process.

Make sure you're utilizing social networking to promote your business. Allowing people to follow updates and find more information about you through Facebook, Twitter, and other sites will increase your chances of them becoming customers. Plus, if one customer "likes" your page on Facebook, their friends may see it and check out your business as well.

If you set up a Twitter account to help you with your internet marketing, be sure to visit it often to see what people are saying. It is important that if anyone posts any complaints on there that you address it as quickly as possible because you do not want to make someone who is already upset wait. Know that you can right a wrong if you respond quickly and appropriately to an issue.

Pay attention to your page rankings. Many sites will tell you that they do not matter, but others argue strongly that they do. The higher your page ranking, the more people will see your site. It is a good idea to pay close attention to your ranks, but not to obsess over them.

One of the easiest ways to spread the word about your site and business is to post a video online. In the age where everyone goes to video sharing sites like YouTube and Dailymotion, your video is likely to be seen by many viewers and generate traffic to your website. It's relatively simple and cheap to create a video for your business.

A good way of internet marketing is to use phrases such as "invest in our product" rather than using phrases such as "purchase" or "buy". This will give the consumer the idea that the product that you are selling will benefit him in the long run and in time will be able to reap the rewards associated with it.
